On November 15, 2022, the Government of Indonesia (GoI) and the International Partners Group (IPG) launched the Just Energy Transition Partnership Indonesia (JETP Indonesia) on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia. As per March 2025, The IPG comprises the Federal Republic of Germany and the governments of Japan, who are co-leaders of the partnership, and Canada, Denmark, the European Union, the French Republic, Norway, the Republic of Italy, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. To date, USD 21.4 billion has been pledged for JETP Indonesia.

JDU aims to drive Indonesia´s Just Energy Transition by serving as a Secretariat, ensuring the effective delivery of JETP projects, and serving as a strategic platform for dialogue. It supports the coordination of government institutions, international partners, and financing. A high-level Steering Board composed of SATGAS TEH (CMEA, MEMR, CMIRD) and IPG/GFANZ will provide strategic guidance, set priorities and oversee the JDU workplan
